Today’s prepping

17 Apr

Had a cammo box delivered today.

We still have to do some finish work to do.  Leveling, dirt work, light clearing, tie downs, 5KW diesel military generator, and touch up on camouflage.  Then I will see to external (extended) security.  This is military, and comes complete with electrical lighting, ventilation system, and shut down lights on door.

With a maple hardwood floor, it’s has aluminum outside, with steel plate inside.  It is completely insulated. Cammo makes it extremely difficult to see.  Unless you know where it is or walk up on it, you probably won’t see it.

We are looking forward to using this for storage and canned products.  Like an above ground root cellar.  Also plan on adding a small A/C.  I just thought that this was so much more (for the money) than a regular cargo container.

rat, Are you getting the newer TQG (Tatical Quiet Generator) or the older 5 K generator? The old style are really noisy but you can dampen the sound with a muffer though you lose a bit of performance. If you are getting this surplus see if you can get the quick change fuel setup. Basically it bypasses the fuel tank and sucks the fuel from a 5 gallon military style gas can. Under a good size load 3/4ths you will probably get about 8-12 hours of run time per 5 gallon can.

Jamie, already have the generator and it’s mounted on a new trailer. It’s loud too. Will get the muffler. Don’t plan on using it much. Already have the 5 gals. you mentioned. Will have to get. The quick change. Thanks!

We’re busy these days Will be leveling and positioning in its final spot today. Tying it down with anchors, and moving the 5KW generator to the site (it’s camouflaged too) and installing it. Then will be putting in our surprises (tripwires) for those unwanted guests. 🙂 Also doing work on shredder and other equipment around the place. I don’t know, when the SHTF, if we’ll be able to donate much time to the repairs or upkeep of that stuff. Also working to sell some assets in our final preparations. I think things are getting serious now and we are stepping up our pace around here.

Sounds good ‘rat. We are in the same mode here, stepping up the pace. We held a meeting last afternoon and did an inventory of all items just to see where we are and what we need to focus on. We are putting the finishing touches on the bunkhouse, we are satisfied with the equipment inventory but of course are still continuing to march as to food/medicinal items. We are working on some field expedient early warning and security devices, we already have some electronic monitoring as long as the grid is up.

This new item you have will be a great asset, I’m glad to see you have it!

Thank you, Danny. It’s not a “Citadel” 🙂 , but it will suffice.
