Only in California

28 Aug

“We’re hoping to deliver some water to those turtles”

“We might also drag some brush in to give them cover.”

While power stations were turned off, 4,500 homes are in danger, 31 already lost, 3,700 firefighters are working their asses off, the water supply is being threatened, they are setting up a sprinkler system to save the sequoias, and bulldozing firebreaks to protect Tuolumne City, the crazy bastards are worried about a few turtles?

Although I feel really bad for the few sane people let there, will someone please tell me why they didn’t deserve this?

“We might also drag some brush in to give them cover.”

Cover? From WHAT?! The world is burning down around these turtles and some dim witted simpleton wants to drag BRUSH in for cover!

These fires (for which Californians are at least partially responsible) will eventually be extinguished, homes will be repaired or rebuilt and business will get back to usual, but you can’t fix “STUPID”.

They won’t learn until their whole world does fall down around them, and then it WILL be too late to rebuild. Those people are beyond stupid.

Mom was talking about how SF’s water and power supplies are threatened by the fire. She was talking about filling up the tub with water, having supplies and a way to cook. She was stunned there have been no stories about a rush on gas, banks or grocery stores!
I guess if the sheep just ignore it the bad news will go away.

I have heard nothing about the runs. I did speak with our Water man and he said that the water is safe. Not to worry there. They have a number of ways to protect that, so tell her not to worry about that. Gas and other shortages could produce some unsavory things. Especially in that town. With Oakland so near.

rat, It might just be my rampant paranoia but even though things happen a good distance away I still asseess how it will affect me and what steps I can take to mitigate whatever I can think up. Syria is is affecting gas and commodity prices. I figure people would be stocking up on gas at least! India’s economy is going in the toilet and some of the other Asian “Tigers” are starting to show some economic cracks.

This mess going on in Syria may drive gasoline prices way up, prices have been fairly stable in this area so far. But it’s no secret the present regime wants per gallon prices much higher. Of course if (when?) that happens everything else will skyrocket also. We did fill up both vehicles yesterday but do not plan to stockpile any gas, we seldom drive outside of our area anyway. But if push comes to shove we have horses to ride to town!

As for the turtles and Sequoia, I guess we’ll just have to see what happens next. But with all that’s going on in the world, frankly they aren’t very high on my priority list.

But what I think doesn’t matter in California!

Not to worry too much there (Syria) either. With the UK backing down, so will the Kenyan. I would be surprised if he went ahead unilaterally with his threats. It seems that nobody (even our allies) want to have anything to do with him these days. Amateurs! Rank amateurs in the form of Democrat Party of Amerika. This bodes badly for our nation. He can’t rally anyone. Red Line, my ass! Get ready for more belligerence from all of the opposition players around the globe. Things are only going to get more difficult, but not from Syria blowing up the world. Keep your eyes on the Kenyan. He is our real enemy. Watch for black swans as his attempt to regain some respect.

I would imagine his stress level is very high at the moment…chain smoking those Marlboro cigarettes and cussing many in Congress and the world!

As the WWII vets used to say…this is FUBAR!

There were two terms actually started and used back in those days.

    FUBAR…..F***ed Up Beyond All Recognition

    SNAFU…..Situation Normal All F***ed Up
