True story

01 Aug

Not all cops are bad.  Not all cops are good, smart, or needed.

We had a semi with a trailer full of cows come through town today.  It had 130 head and was from Hearn, TX.  Don’t know where it was heading, but it had blown two tires and the cattle were dying from the heat.  10 cows were already down by the time the driver made a call to the City.  We managed to mobilize the VFD and they got water on them.  The 10 down, rose up.  The others survived until the tires could be changed and the driver could get some air on them.

Meanwhile, my daughter (up in Dallas) told me that a rental (bobtail) truck had broken down on Central Expwy today, in front of her.  She said that it looked like the engine was about to ignite.  The driver was out, waving for help.  Meanwhile, a Dallas PD Officer drove by, looked at it,  turned right and drove away.  Leaving them on the street, without help or assistance even directing traffic.

It’s not about the money, or the benefits.  It’s about their raising, the parents, and their bosses.  It’s about what is expected of them.  Many just don’t have the needed smarts and humanity in them.  Perhaps Dallas should begin by cleaning out their Human Resources people first.  Then the Chief.  Then move down from there.  We create our own problems.

What you guys did for that driver was danged DECENT! My hat is off to all of you. What that officer did was…well…chickenshit and that’s the BEST I can say for him.

I can’t print the rest of it.

His load was saved. It’s a good thing, too! Because there’s not a livestock barn open around here, where he could off-load them! He was screwed. Or rather, those cows were screwed. Don’t know why he wasn’t moving at night, when it’s cooler. He learned a valuable lesson today.

You’d better believe it. He was!
