Which way?

17 Apr

OK?  Whaddya want?

Police (including the FedGov) don’t want the People to film them.  Now, they are spending our money advertising for us to do so.  They want our input and cameras.

First, they violate and arrest us; then they spend our money recruiting us!

They want us when it helps them to do their jobs.

Homeland Security's new ad campaign slogan is, "If you see something, say something."

Big Fat Sis’ (Homeland Security) new ad campaign slogan is, “If you see something, say something.”

Then, under any other circumstances, they take away our freedoms and violate our rights to keep them honest.  This is beginning to look like Soviet Russia.

How short our memories are!

The concept of “community policing” was enacted nationwide during my early years on the force (early 1980’s). It is nothing more than a bid to encourage people to spy on each other and report what they see to the local departments.

Of course it was done in the guise of fighting crime and seemed harmless enough (remember McGruff?!) even to the point of becoming a necessary element to fighting crime.

I will not deny it has helped many times in the prevention and investigation of crime however it has been and continues to be used as an intelligence gathering tool by, shall we say…less than constitutionally minded Police Officers in neighborhoods across America. Like anything else, community policing could be a good tool in the hands of “good” people but how far do we trust it to be used in a good way?

Big brother (Sis) is watching you. And your neighbors are telling all!
