Prayer works!

02 Mar

Nothing but the best goes out to Dannyboy.  His better half, Mary, just fell off a horse and was knocked unconscious for about 30 minutes!  He thought that he’d lost her.  She was taken to a Little Rock hospital, where it was determined that she did not break her neck, or do serious injury after all.  She  already has a plate in her neck from a previous car wreck, and it held up even with her landing on her head!  Congrats go out to Danny and a safe recovery, with continued prayers, goes out to Mary.  I figure this must not be the first time she’s landed on her head.  Why else would she put up with you???  😀

Prayers do work!

You hit the nail square on the head with that one Soffitrat, no sensible woman would stay with me as long as she has!! She is more than I deserve no doubt about that.

The Doctor did find out last night Mary does indeed have a fracture in one of the lower thoracic vertebrate and two ruptured discs in the top vertebrate. She came home this afternoon but has to stay in a neck brace until further notice. They didn’t get the final test results in until late last night so we didn’t find out all this until about mid morning today.

She will have to have surgery to remove the damaged discs but he said that is about two months away, he wants her to have plenty time for the fracture to heal. He did tell her this morning before he discharged her that her spine will not stand another impact or damage of any kind. She is resigned to the fact that her days of “bronco-bustin” are over. She is the manager of the ranch and so will have to limit her participation to ground work only from now on. It kills her soul, so to speak, but she is staring her options square in the face and not liking what she sees. Our five daughters and grandchildren haven’t had their say in this matter yet but they are firm in their resolve that momma/grandma needs to quit taking chances. This is her third hospital stay in less than a year!

In all the years I have known her, there has only been three horses that were able to unseat her, but they each did a jam up job of it. She ain’t but 5′ 7″ and 120lbs…but dammit boys…that little Cherokee could ride!

    Thanks Soffitrat!

You’re welcome. I had hoped for better. But we’ll take that news.

Yeah, under the circumstances that’s the best we’re gonna get…it could have been much worse!

Absolutely! She is a lucky girl! And we’ll take that any day! Besides, it wasn’t her time. We’ll need her. For re-loading, if nothing else. LOL!

Hell, she’s gonna be busy loading her own firearm! Speaking of reloading, I’m getting back into that and teaching her how to do all that stuff. She’s wanting to learn it!

Thanks CC! She is more than I deserve, and pretty danged resilient too. Let me guess Craig, you broke the fibula? Mary broke her right fibula (with the help of a horse) last year but she was lucky, it was a clean break, easily managed.

HOLY COW CC! That should qualify you for being the Million Dollar Man! You have more screws and bolts in your leg than a small town hardware store.
